There was
a Second War of Independence, in the Pacific Northwest. Many of those
who fought for the Rebellion were far too young to be soldiers. There were
rumors about some of these boys, of rigid, unceasing discipline and training
from infancy. Those kids, it was said, were just plain dangerous.
In the beginning of the crisis, six of the
seven States of the Alliance had no original serious intention to secede,
much less go to war.
But then the Federals did something really
stupid.
Years later, in a central African hell-on-earth,
the now-grown men who had fought for liberty find themselves once again
forced to ask if there are worse things than war. The answer to that was
the answer to a question a certain man asked long ago. |
